I am back in the saddle tonight with a gripping film noir with a great title.
"I know how you feel. You're a nice guy. But the world isn't for nice guys. You gotta kick and punch and belt your way up cause nobody's gonna give you a lift. You gotta do it yourself cause nobody cares about us but ourselves."
The Gist
After suffering a tragic loss, Ethel Whitehead endeavors to lift herself out of poverty by using her sex appeal to get what she wants from men, eventually finding wealth and power with a racketeer. When he sends her out west to cozy up to a rival to find out what he's planning, the setup backfires, and Ethel ends up right back where she started.

My Thoughts
This was a nice, shadowy noir with a set of ruthless characters who are driven by the pursuit of wealth and power to escape a life of poverty through criminal means. The acting is top notch, the fast pace carries the viewer along through what is sure to be a tragic end, and it was good for an evening's entertainment.
